* ((__)) * (00) "Moo, dude. Bovine-MP3-WebIt is Cool!" * nn--(o__o)--nn- This is a simple "general plugin" that should work with WinAmp 2.x or above. Previous versions of this plugin were limited to working with only Winamp 1.x, however support for Winamp 1.x has now been removed. This plugin was written by Jeff Lawson. The purpose of this plugin is to load a specified web page and add any linked *.mp3 files to your current WinAmp playlist. This allows you to immediately play any of those mp3 files directly off of the web using WinAmp's http streaming playback mode. Previously you had to manually type in the full URL for each MP3 into your playlist. Of course you will need a network connection that is fast enough to allow you to play the mp3 at the same time it is being downloaded. Since most MP3's are at 112-128kbps, you'll need something just slightly faster than ISDN. To install this plugin, quit WinAmp and copy the gen_mp3webit.dll into your WinAmp directory. To invoke the plugin, go into WinAmp's Play List Editor and click on the "Add" button and select "Weblinks" from the list. You will be prompted for the full URL of the HTML page containing the linked MP3's. Notes and Known Issues: - Currently this plugin does not utilize the http proxy setting that you specify in WinAmp's configuration when it builds your playlist from the webpage. However, when you play back and of the streamed MP3's, WinAmp will use your proxy setting. - Only requests via HTTP is supported (no ftp). This is really more of a limitation of WinAmp. Let me know if you discover any problems, or if you've found this plugin useful.
